Briarwood Club of Ankeny was founded with the mission to provide our members with a superior recreational and social experience, and to establish within our community a paradigm of excellence. Our vision is to build a strong foundation upon the core values of integrity, loyalty and respect, and to promote unity and fellowship through the preservation of our standards and the imparting of our traditions to future generations
Newman Golf purchased Briarwood Golf Course in 1997, two years after Gordon Cunningham and Peter Beaves designed and built the course. Briarwood initially opened for play in 1995. It achieves a fine balance of design to test each level of golfer while remaining both interesting and challenging to every player. This is evident in the wide range of yardages to play from 5,250 to 7,019 yards.

The course is strategic and demanding, yet versatile enough for every player. It was designed and constructed to utilize the natural terrain of the land with winding creeks, rolling fairways, and meandering ponds. Briarwood is known for its bent-grass tees, fairways, undulating greens and its complete practice facility.

In 2008, Briarwood made the choice to convert from its daily fee operations to a private club, in order to better serve the local community. With many golfers and staff that have been around Briarwood since it opened, the Club has started its first year with deep roots and support in the Ankeny area.

We are extremely excited for the future of the Briarwood Club of Ankeny and its membership as we begin to write the next chapter of our history!
