Golf Course Information
Description
Des Moines Golf and Country Club prides itself on being one of the leading full service country clubs in the Midwest. The cornerstones of the Club are the only two Pete Dye designed championship golf courses in Iowa. A strong junior golf program at various abilities is complimented by active programs for men, ladies and seniors at all levels. Instruction begins at age 5 and is available for all ages beyond that. Members enjoy unlimited access to the largest practice facility in Des Moines, including a bentgrass short game practice area. But were not just golf.
Members enjoy the Olympic size swimming pool everyday from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Swim lessons are available as is the opportunity to participate on our competitive swim team. We offer one of the only club diving programs in the city as well as synchronized swimming for young ladies. Competition is available in both of these aquatic offerings as well. For those too young to swim our large wading pool is adjacent to our playground and our splash ground with interactive water features.
Twelve tennis courts give tennis players a choice of clay or Plexipave® during the summer season. During the winter months four of the Plexipave® courts are domed, allowing us to offer the only private club, indoor tennis experience in the area. Our tennis offerings for juniors are emphasized but not the sole focus of a program that has very active men, ladies and couples components.
The Clubhouse is the location for some of the finest dining in Des Moines. A la carte dining is offered in the casual Iowa Grille. A menu of burgers, pastas, salads, steaks and fresh fish guarantee members will find something to suit your dining mood. Prime aged beef, fresh fish and tableside presentations are featured in the more formal Candlelight Dining Room. Our CMAA award winning wine list is available in either room or members may bring their own bottle in for a small corkage fee. Dont dine out often, or you spend a few months away every year? No worry, there is no food or beverage minimum spending requirement at Des Moines Golf.
Food service is also available for groups of 3 to 350 in our banquet space. Accessible to only our members and their guests on a first come first serve basis, events are booked through our full time Director of Events. From all day meetings and bridal showers to bar mitzvahs and weddings we do it all.
Being a large club, Des Moines Golf and Country Club has a tremendous amount to offer. Yet, it is very family friendly and is truly part of the community.
